Periwinkle was my 2017 special order portrait of Merrylegs from Black Beauty.
His name comes from his colour and cheerful sound. The book never went into much detail about Merrylegs' colour beyond "dapple grey", so I was free to choose my preferred shade.
Most of the time the pony is depicted as a white-grey, but I wanted something a little more dramatic.
This is really just an earlier stage of the greying process.

At the time my son and I were a bit obsessed with the Moana soundtrack, so this name was the first thing to pop into my head.
